If Frogs Can’t Reproduce, What About Our Babies?
The Hidden Chemical Threat to Our Families and Why We Must Speak Up
I’ve been sitting with something heavy on my heart, and today, I need to share it with you, not as an expert, not as a leader but as a woman, a mother, and hopefully one day a grandmother.
This Generation Is Under Attack and We Must Sound the Alarm
We are literally witnessing something we’ve never seen before: an entire generation facing a silent assault on their ability to create life. Our children are experiencing puberty too early, struggling with infertility too young, and being exposed to chemicals that were never meant for human bodies.
If you dream of one day being a grandmother, of holding your daughter’s baby, of watching your family grow, you must understand… THAT future, THAT desire is being threatened.
This is not a conspiracy. It is chemical warfare disguised as convenience, sprayed on our food and served on our plates.
What if we told you that a chemical commonly used on the corn in your child’s cereal, or in the water that flows through your faucet, has the power to disrupt hormones so deeply that it can chemically castrate frogs?
Would you believe it?
That’s exactly what Dr. Tyrone Hayes, a brilliant biologist and African-American scientist from UC Berkeley, discovered more than 20 years ago. Atrazine causes male frogs to become chemically feminized. Some frogs actually developed eggs. The chemical disrupted their hormones so deeply, they could no longer reproduce.
And still, Atrazine, the pesticide he studied, is one of the most widely used in the United States today.
Let that sink in.
If it can do that to frogs... what is it doing to our boys? To our girls? To our wombs?
The Science That Changed Everything
Dr. Hayes was hired by a company called Syngenta in the late 1990s to study Atrazine’s impact on amphibians. What he found shocked him.
In controlled laboratory environments, male frogs exposed to even minuscule levels of Atrazine (levels lower than what the EPA allows in drinking water) began to develop female sex characteristics! Some even developed functioning ovaries and laid eggs. In other words, the frogs were chemically feminized.
His conclusion: Atrazine disrupts endocrine function, affecting sexual development and fertility.
Dr. Hayes tried to warn us. But instead of listening, they shut him down. They attacked his character and tried to ruin his reputation not because he was wrong, but because he was right. And the truth he uncovered put the profits of powerful farm chemical companies at risk.
And while they dismissed him, we watched the rise of:
Early puberty in our girls
Declining sperm counts in boys and men
Irregular menstrual cycles
Fertility challenges in our families
Hormonal imbalances/disruption in girls
Feminized boys
Hormone-related cancer rates that keep climbing
All of this… and still, no one is asking:
Why are our communities being hit the hardest?
Why are rates of infertility, early puberty, and hormone imbalances climbing in communities of color?
Why are chemicals like Atrazine banned in the EU but still sprayed across millions of acres in the U.S.?
Why aren’t we being told the truth?
And what can we do?
Our Health Should NEVER Be Political! This isn’t about politics. It’s not about partisanship.
This is not just a scientific issue. It is a human rights issue. And it’s deeply personal. It’s about our health. Our families. Our legacy.
This is about the right to bear children, to be healthy, to live a full life. It’s about the ability to make our own choices about our bodies, and it’s about protecting future generations.
A Call to Conscious Action
At 100 Healthy Women, we are doing things differently. We are building a community-owned wellness network where our voices matter and where truth is honored, and healing is sacred.
This is more than a community. THIS IS A MOVEMENT.
And I’m asking you, with all the love in my heart: Will you stand with us? Will you speak up? Will you protect your babies, your body, your legacy?
Because we need you.
We’re calling on you to:

Because the future of our nation’s health should never be political.
It should be sacred.
We are not victims of this system. We are the visionaries of a new one. And as 100 Healthy Women, organized the right way, we can protect generations.
It’s time to wake up, speak up, and stand up. Ask the hard questions. Demand real answers. Our babies—and their babies—are depending on us.
This isn’t just about what’s on our plates. It’s about what we’re willing to tolerate.
Let’s stop tolerating what harms us.
Let’s start healing what’s been ignored for too long.
With deep love and fierce commitment,
Angela René
